MSU Gran Fondo June 27 canceled for 2020

May 6, 2020

A message from Aron Sousa, MD, Interim Dean, MSU College of Human Medicine:

To our Gran Fondo participants:

After exploring many options with our MSU Gran Fondo executive committee, top sponsors and university leaders, we regrettably are cancelling the 2020 MSU Gran Fondo. We will not risk the health and safety of our volunteers, sponsors and riders.

We are looking forward to planning MSU Gran Fondo 8, for June 26, 2021 (date has since been changed to September 18, 2021), when we can all come together to ride through West Michigan in support of life-saving skin cancer research.

As a registered participant, you have several options:

  • Refund your registration
  • Defer your registration to Gran Fondo 8, June 26, 2021 (date has since been changed to September 18, 2021) (default option – no action necessary)
  • Donate your registration fee to either the MSU Skin Cancer Awareness, Prevention and Research Fund or the MSU COVID-19 Student Emergency Fund

Any donations already collected for 2020 will be rolled into your 2021 fundraising tally for incentives. These funds will remain directed to supporting skin cancer research in your name or your team’s name.

Please let us know by June 1, 2020, if you do not want your 2020 registration transferred to 2021.

Best regards,

Aron Sousa, MD
